Itinerary Low Water Season 4 Days

Uncover the wonders of the Peruvian Amazon on a four-day voyage through the extraordinary Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, famously nicknamed the “Jungle of Mirrors” for the luminous reflections that shimmer across its dark, glass-like rivers. Navigate the winding waterways of the Marañón River, Ucayali River, and the mighty Amazon River while observing an astonishing variety of wildlife, from pink river dolphins and colorful bird species to stealthy caimans and even tarantulas.
Along the way, engage with local communities, walk beneath the rainforest canopy, and marvel at vivid sunrises and sunsets over the water. This immersive journey combines nature exploration, cultural insight, and regional Amazonian cuisine in one of the planet’s richest ecosystems.

Day 1 (Wednesday): Iquitos, Nauta, Maranón River, Nauta Caño

Arrive in Iquitos and transfer to Nauta, the main access point to the reserve. During the drive, enjoy a boxed lunch while observing the evolving jungle scenery. Upon boarding, settle into your suite and admire expansive river views as the vessel begins cruising along the Marañón River. Naturalist guides will introduce the geography, biodiversity, and highlights of the days ahead.
After sunset, set out by skiff into Nauta Caño. The rainforest transforms at night, search for the glowing eyes of caimans along the shoreline, listen for frogs calling in the darkness, and keep watch for nocturnal creatures such as tarantulas. Return onboard for a dinner showcasing regional flavors and warm hospitality.

Day 2 ( Thursday): Amazon River, San Joaquin De Omaguas, Yarapa River, Ucayali River

Begin the day with an early-morning outing on the Amazon River, when wildlife activity peaks and riverside communities come to life. Witness fishermen at work and children commuting by boat to school. After breakfast, continue along the blackwater Yarapa River, a prime location for spotting monkeys, sloths, and brilliantly colored birds in the treetops.
Later, visit the community of Paranapura for an authentic cultural experience. With your guide facilitating interaction, learn about local traditions, customs, and daily life.
As evening falls, embark on another nighttime excursion in search of caimans, bats, frogs, and other rainforest species. Conclude the day with live music onboard, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the jungle.

Day 3 (Friday): Yarapa on Ucayali River (Black Water), Yucuruchi, Amazon River (Origin)

At sunrise, explore the Yarapa River once more, discovering new sights in the gentle morning light. After breakfast, disembark in the Yucuruchi sector of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve for a guided rainforest hike. Observe towering ceiba trees, medicinal plants, and diverse wildlife while learning about the delicate balance of this ecosystem and its seasonal flooding cycles.
In the afternoon, cruise along the Amazon River in search of its iconic pink and gray river dolphins. Watch as they surface gracefully before taking in a brilliant sunset mirrored across the water. Celebrate your final evening with live entertainment and a special farewell dinner.

Day 4 (Saturday): Disembarkation in Nauta Port

After breakfast, disembark in Nauta and travel back toward Iquitos. On the way, visit the Amazon Forever Bio Park, better known as the Manatee Rescue Center. Here, specialists rehabilitate endangered Amazonian manatees and other rescued wildlife prior to release. Gain valuable insight into conservation initiatives and environmental education efforts aimed at preserving this unique habitat.
Following this visit, transfer to the airport for your departure, marking the end of your Amazon adventure.

1 night accommodation Hotel - City of Iquitos. (Only 8D/7N and 5D/4N programs). *The night at the DoubleTree hotel is an additional service to the nights included in the Zafiro 8D/7N and 5D/4N itineraries. It can be taken at the beginning or end of the trip and does not change or reduce the number of days of navigation on board.
Lunch is included before boarding at our DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos hotel. (This service depends on the arrival time of the recommended flight, which might change), (Valid for the 8D/7N and 5D/4N programs), (The 4D/3N itinerary includes a box lunch).
All meals while on board Zafiro.
All excursions & equipment (including rubber boots & rain ponchos).
Transfer from/to the cruise on the recommended flights. In case the passengers stay in Iquitos city hotels – please inform the Guest Coordinator, to arrange pick-up prior to or after your cruise.
Entrance fee to Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.
Beverages: Sodas, natural juices, coffee, tea, water, local beer, and house wines available at all times. Premium bar available at an additional cost. Cocktails, spirits, and bottled water are not included.
